Self Exclusion Programs

Find out more about the self-exclusion process for your state below.

A range of counselling services are available in your state to provide assistance with gaming-related issues. Many counselling services are free or government-subsidised.

Self Exclusion Process - Victorian Gaming Venues

Self exclusion from gambling for Victorian clubs and hotels is managed by the Australian Hotels Association. Self exclusion is an entirely voluntary process. It is an agreement you make with yourself, and for yourself. It involves no other person in any responsibilities - legal or otherwise.

To become self excluded you will need to attend an interview with an AHA officer. At the interview your photo will be taken and you will be required to sign the Deed of Self Exclusion. Please ensure that you read the deed thoroughly and if required, seek independent advice concerning the contents of the Deed. The contents of the Deed will be explained to you at the interview.

You may bring any person or material you wish to the interview. When you call to arrange an interview time, you will be asked to nominate by name the venue/s you wish to be self excluded from.

If you would like more information on self exclusion, or would like to contact the AHA to arrange an interview for self exclusion, visit the AHA website, or contact any Self Exclusion Officer at the AHA on (03) 9654 3491 to arrange an interview time.

For your benefit, could you also please bring your membership card (if any) for the venues to which you would like to be excluded. This will aid in your self exclusion. You will also need to provide AHA approved identification.

If you have not as yet contacted a counsellor, the AHA recommends that you to do so. To locate a counselling service, please select the "Finding Help" tab on the left hand side of this page for Counselling Services in your State of residence.

Self Exclusion Process - Online Lotto Services

Tattersall's

Self exclusion is available to all members of Tattersall's online lottery services. The process is similar to that involved in self exclusion from a venue and effectively prevents members who wish to self exclude from being able to use their online account for an exclusion period of 180 days.

The self exclusion process for a selected Tattersall's website(s) is started from the website itself.

  1. Firstly login to your account and select the Account link.
  2. Then select the Self Exclusion link.
  3. You will be required to read and acknowledge the "Deed of Self Exclusion" and either accept or disagree to the terms and conditions as listed in the Deed. Please note that you need to accept the terms and conditions before self exclusion will be implemented.

The Deed has the effect of disabling your online account for a period of 180 days. When you accept the terms and conditions as outlined in the Deed, an email confirming your request is sent to Tattersall's Customer Support. The self exclusion will be activated within 24 hours of Tattersall's Customer Support receiving this email.

The exclusion period is a minimum of 180 days after the period of self exclusion was activated. Please note that reinstatement after this period is not automatic - your account will only be reinstated upon written request from you authorising this. The third time a player self excludes, they will be excluded from Tattersall's online services on a permanent basis.

Golden Casket

If you are a Golden Casket online player and would like to self exclude yourself from playing Lotto online because you think you may have a gambling problem, please telephone Golden Casket's Contact Centre on 131 868 and ask to speak to a Responsible Play Liaison Officer. Please note your online account will be suspended for a 30 day minimum if you choose to self exclude.
